AI empowers a healthy life
On March 19th, 2025, the press conference for the 7th World Health Expo was held in Wuhan. At that time, 700 enterprises from 18 countries and regions, including world 500 companies such as Taikang, Philips, GE Healthcare, Fresenus and Astrazeneca, will gather in Wuhan to face the world. Youdaoplaceholder0, deputy director of the organizing committee of the World Health Expo and secretary-general of the Hubei Chu Business Association, said that the expo will feature 22 special events including high-level forums, exhibitions and experiences, industry connections and free medical consultations, showcasing the latest achievements in artificial intelligence healthcare, wearable devices, gene diagnosis and treatment, smart elderly care and modernization of traditional Chinese medicine. Audiences can immerse themselves in the “future health scenarios” – such as AI-assisted diagnosis, remote surgical robot operation, personalized health management, etc., and feel up close how technology reshapes a healthy lifestyle. Meanwhile, this expo will innovatively set up a popular science exhibition area with the theme of weight management, providing personalized health assessment and intervention plans.
Wuhan is the main battlefield for the development of the big health industry in our province. At the meeting, Zhang Zhongjun, the vice mayor of Wuhan, introduced that in 2024, the operating income of the life and health industry in Wuhan would exceed 550 billion yuan, forming a pattern of “one city” consisting of the Optics Valley Bio-City and “one Park” consisting of the Optics Valley South Great Health Industry Park. The life and health industry clusters represented by the Hanyang Big Health Industry Development Zone, the Tongji Union National Medical Service Zone and the Yangtze River New Town International Medical Innovation Zone. The number of life and health enterprises in the city has exceeded 4,500, with 173 “specialized, refined, distinctive and innovative” enterprises emerging in the field of life and health, such as Landin Intelligent, United Imaging Zhirong and Tianqin Biology. Major projects such as Mindray Wuhan Base, Heyuan Biology Plant Source recombinant human Serum Albumin Industrialization Base and the second phase of Optics Valley Bio-Innovation Park are progressing smoothly, and plans are being made to build a traditional Chinese medicine industrial park.
Since 2019, the World Health Expo has been held in Wuhan for six consecutive years, gathering global resources to support the breakthrough development of the health industry in our province. The big health industry in our province has maintained a high growth rate year after year and exceeded one trillion yuan for the first time in 2024, becoming one of the three pillar industries of the province along with optoelectronic information and automobile manufacturing.
